LAS BÓVEDAS

Las Bóvedas are one of the last structures built within the fortified perimeter during the colonial era. Comprising 47 arches and 23 vaults, it served as barracks for the Spanish. It was also used as a prison for patriots during the independence period and the early republic. Today, it houses art galleries, craft shops and historic bars of the city.
